Thank you, I appreciate it shows up in notifications. My point is, if I wish to reply to a comment further up a long thread, the original comment does not know my comment is for them. Neither does anyone else. Especially when the thread has moved on. When the site has a lot more people this could become a problem. Either tagging or being able to respond directly to a comment would make this much more slick and useful. I appreciate there may be limitations to what you can do, but unfortunately these are things which people expect now. Saying all that, I think you've done an amazing job and I wouldn't know where to start. A few changes could make the site truly brilliant.
OK
Here's what I found out.
The Site platform does not have an embedded "reply" to comments option.
However, I can get a third party vendor to possibly add that option (beyond my expertise)
This option will cost money.
When the site starts paying for itself I will invest in this option.
Until then we can tag each other in the comments.
The person tagged will see the comment in their news feed.
I apologize for the lifetime lifetime spams. In order to keep this forum accessible to authors and readers I need to keep the sign up process fairly easy.
In order to sign up you do need to be a real person, but occasionally these real people have an agenda not quite right for this group.
I do keep an eye out for these people and delete and block them as soon as I see they sign up.
There is also another member who has stepped up to let me know when one of these individuals slip on to the site. Since he lives in another time zone his eyes are on the page when I am not.
If you do not want to receive messages from the site when new posts, likes or other messages pop up you can go to the settings (the little wheel on the upper left) and adjust your notification settings. This way the notifications only appear on the site, not in your email.
Thank you all for your understanding. Remember, this is a community so I am very open to feedback.
